Counting on the Heads A SoundPress.net Feature Article by Rich and Laura Lynch "You make the decisions," Bob Weir reminded the New Jersey audience before the band's last song of the night at Holmdel's PNC Arts Center on August 15, 2008. He then took a few moments to plug the New York-based HeadCount.Org and encouraged everyone in attendance to register to vote to make their voices heard in the fall election.
![]() "In that honor, we're gonna play this one," Weir said prior to launching into a spirited version of the Grateful Dead's classic "US Blues" which was the best received song of RatDog's two-hour set. In the vintage track the Dead sang,
Wave that flag, wave it wide and high. "Get voting," Weir said to conclude RatDog's performance. On this summertime night - late in the season - one of the most important presidential contests in U.S. history is fast approaching. Since Weir and his former Grateful Dead mates got together for a musical fund-raiser back in the spring for Obama - it's probably clear who Bobby supports - but he's still counting on the world of Heads for theirs!
