Guitar Greats - Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher Live Kweevak.com Music News The British Isles occupy a fraction of the Earth's land mass yet the region has been a reliable resource in terms of providing the world with phenomenal guitar playing of an extremely high caliber. Now, two of their most potent exports, Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher are captured in two stunning live performances - both now available in multiple formats from Eagle Rock Entertainment.
![]() On their new concert DVDs, both Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher are revealed to be influential and innovative musicians who built on the past with passion and precision to inspire present and future generations of fans and guitar players. Jeff was born in England in 1944. He is a Yardbird alumni who has built a solid following for his impressive solo work that runs the gamut from blues, jazz, progressive and rock. Beck has collaborated with the best including Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Rogers Waters to name but a few. Rory was born in Ireland in 1948. He came to prominence in the 70's for his blistering, blues rock style. Gallagher influenced The Edge, Brian May and others with his dynamic, raw style. Sadly, Rory died in 1995 but he is alive and well through his music and the Live In Cork DVD. Live In Cork documents a 1987 homecoming concert at the Cork Opera House. The DVD demonstrates the eagerness, energy and expertise that Rory brought to his music. The enthusiasm of the local audience only adds to the experience. Gallagher - armed with his battered axe and supported by an able band - is amazing. The DVD also includes a "Rough Guide To Rory's Cork" a collection of footage, photos and stories about Gallagher that adds some insights into the artist's life. Musical highlight include "Follow Me", "Tattoo'd Lady" and "When My Baby She Left Me". In 2007, Jeff Beck played a series of shows at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. A CD and DVD both entitled Performing This Week: Live at Ronnie Scott's captures the intensity and intricacy of these intimate concerts that included guest appearances from Eric Clapton, Imogen Heap and Joss Stone. The diverse set lists from both mediums spans the creative career of Beck. The songs are an array of skills and styles ranging from ballads, Beatles, bolero, boogie, jazz and rock. The DVD captures the power and professionalism of Beck and his proficient band. The instrumentals are vibrant and the vocals add variation to "People Get Ready" (Stone), "Blanket" and "Rollin' And Tumblin'" (Heap). The jam with Clapton - who sings two blues tunes - is a magical musical moment on a DVD that is first rate from start to finish. Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher are guitar greats who have stood the test of time yet live on through their music and their latest Eagle Rock releases.
