Styx Flows Smoothly in 2009 A SoundPress.net Special Feature by Rich and Laura Lynch We got to see the legendary rock band Styx twice in 2009. During both of these occasions team Kweevak was joined by our friend Ken Stasion. The first of these shows was the "Can't Stop Rockin'" Tour at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel. Ken - a prog rock fan, musician and musicologist - was seeing the band live for the first time and came away quite impressed with the show, so much so, that we decided to see the band again when they headed out on their own tour later in the summer. On August 13, 2009 the group rolled into Englewood (BergenPAC) for their first solo show after a short break from their mega blitz with REO Speedwagon and .38 Special. Sure enough - the band did not disappoint and proceeded to perform one of the best shows we've ever seen by them. Taking advantage of having "extra time" the guys performed an extended set with several rarities. For two hours they turned the renovated building into a "paradise theater" for Styx fans. In 2006, Kweevak's Rockin' Rich Lynch had the opportunity to speak with Tommy Shaw for over 40 minutes about the longevity, legacy and lasting impression Styx has created for itself and its fanbase over the years.
