RANDALL BRAMBLETT & GEOFF ACHISON:
JAMMIN' IN THE ATTIC

A SoundPress.net CD Review

Jammin' in the Attic - A Hidden Treasure!

Randall Bramblett may not be a household name but he is heralded for his quality songwriting and musicianship. Bramblett is well versed in sax and keys and has performed with many greats including Traffic, Steve Winwood, Levon Helm and Bonnie Raitt.

Geoff Achison is a guitar virtuoso from Australia who like Randall - may be under the mainstream radar - but is well-known in high level circles. Geoff has taught at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp on a number of occasions.

On June 13, 2010 the two met at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia for a jam. Randall and Geoff were backed by the razor sharp rhythm team of drummer and Grammy winner Yonrico Scott and bassist Ted Pecchio.

The CD features eleven tight tracks from both Achison and Bramblett's catalogues. The set opened with Geoff's "Sent To the Edge" - an engaging blues based tune enhanced by Randall's sassy sax. The next two tracks were penned by Bramblett. "Queen of England" was regal in its storytelling and stirring instrumentation. "Nobody's Problem" featured fine textures and tones both lyrically and musically.

"One Ticket, One Ride" was a tantalizing twist of guitar and sax followed by the masterful "My World". "Tell Me Something" was a bold blend of up-beat blues with Randall's saucy sax melding with Geoff sizzling guitars.

"Driving To Montgomery" was a catchy combination of keys and rhythms articulating change. "Rule The World" featured funky grooves and hypnotic horns. "See Through Me" was passionate. "Jungle" ranged from subtle sounds to soaring instrumentation. "Get In Get Out" was a free flowing jam at its best.

The CD showcases a talented team of players who were passionate and precise in their presentation. The chemistry and joy of the event were apparent on the eleven tracks, which were a diverse blend of styles and singing with both Geoff and Randall handling lead vocals. Jammin' in the Attic is a hidden treasure!
