T-4'S ROCKAFOLKABLUES BAND COVERED BRIDGE CHRONICLES: T-4 is a trio of self-taught, multi-instrumentalists. All three members have been playing an assortment of instruments since a young age. T-4's music is a blend of blues, country, folk and rock. Their vocals have a down home flavor and you can almost picture the band hanging out on a front porch jamming. The ten-track CD is about life in rural Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. T-4's songs are filled with blues based guitars, foot tapping rhythms and straightforward lyrics. 'Way Back When' is the opening track and sets the snappy tone for the rest of the CD. It features catchy beats and instrumentation, as well as a colorful twangy solo. It is followed by 'Dollars For Today', which blends rapid bass line with creative storytelling and a cool old style guitar solo. 'Something Old Fashioned' is a slower, acoustic song reflecting on life and love in farming country. T-4's songs are an organic mix of old and modern styles that is very enjoyable in its flow and integrity !

TABITHA MONET ADVENTURES OF ME AND ME: Tabitha Monet is a singer, songwriter, storyteller and producer. Tabitha is a self-taught musician who plays guitar, keys and violin. Monet is an avid reader of literature, philosophy and poetry. Her musical influences include Aimee Mann, the Indigo Girls and others. Tabitha pens thought provoking lyrics layered over subtle but stirring instrumentation. Her music is acoustic rock with shades of adult contemporary and folk. Tabitha's production is stark allowing the thirteen tracks on this debut CD to speak for themselves. 'Kept A Secret' features soft guitar chords and soaring vocals. The song is filled with visual lyrics of scenes in New York and descriptions of a relationship with a married man. 'Helen' is a poignant narrative by an elderly woman who is half blind and deaf who has outlasted her siblings and her children. Tabitha's vocals are weighty in conjunctions with gloomy guitars. 'Lies' has austere instrumentation but Monet's words are complex reflecting on the past and contemporary lies such as "no new taxes". Tabitha Monet is a compelling singer and songwriter and her freshman release is haunting and heartfelt!

TALKING HEADS RHINO REISSUES: Talking Heads' eight pioneering albums defied easy musical categorization, and now, eleven years after David Byrne, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison's last release together, Rhino Records is reissuing all 8 studio albums including the original album in remastered stereo plus rare bonus songs on the CD side. The DVD side contains the original album mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, plus bonus audio and video content, lyrics and photos. In addition to the hits "Burning Down the House," "Take Me To The River," "Road To Nowhere," "Wild, Wild Life" and "Once In A Lifetime," this deluxe sonic upgrade includes an impressive collection of previously unavailable bonus songs and videos. Unreleased highlights include an acoustic version of "Psycho Killer" mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, a live 1976 video performance of "I Feel It In My Heart" recorded at The Kitchen in New York, alternate mixes of "The Big Country" and "Life During Wartime," early versions of "And She Was" and "Road To Nowhere," a version of "Papa Legba," featuring Pops Staples, several unfinished outtakes from the Remain In Light sessions, as well as music videos and German television performances. Formed in the mid-'70s at the Rhode Island School of Design, Talking Heads were art school punks who made a name on the nascent punk scene at CBGBs before evolving into one of pop music's most adventurous and influential bands. Talking Heads pioneered a polyrhythmic sound that barrowed from rock, funk, punk, world beat and avant-garde minimalism to create clever, experimental music embraced by radio audiences.

TED CZUK THE GAMUT: Ted Czuk is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He is well versed in the blues, country, folk, jazz and rock. Ted melds all of these genres into an eclectic fourteen-track collection. This indie project is clearly not aimed towards the mainstream as a mixture of styles are explored, ranging from gospel to innovative pop. Despite the diversity on each track, Ted explains that a musical phrase is woven into the fabric of almost every song, Czuk refers to it as "his Alfred Hitchcock walk-on lick". Ted has invited a multitude of players to assist with this ambitious project. 'Moon November' is the up-tempo opener. An upright bass and congas create a Latin groove that melds with rock riffs and flute accents. It is followed by a soulful gospel duet, a hard rocker and a 50's Pop composition. 'Lord, Plug This Hole' begins with Ted playing harmonica and singing the song with a country tone with out the twang. The rock beat is subtle but works well within the framework of the song. A piano part and more harmonicas are woven throughout the track giving it more soul. 'Running With The Dogs' is an unorthodox approach to funk and swing. Somehow Czuk, who handles the horns, and company makes it work. The song has attitude with Ted executing his lyrics with a growl. Ted Czuk has aptly titled his latest release. It really does cover a Gamut of musical styles and creatively breaks a few rules along the way!

TEEDO LUVATOMIC: Teedo is based out of New York City but the three core members come from diverse backgrounds and different parts of the world. There are a number of guest players on this well-produced CD to give it an even fuller sound. Luvatomic is Teedo's first full-length release featuring twelve innovative tracks. The trio's music is hard to describe as it culls its sound from an assortment of genres including rock, punk, pop, funk, reggae and more. Teedo uses a variety of sound effects such as feedback to give their compositions more depth and power. Their music has attitude and explores an array of styles but high-energy is a constant. Teedo Bilecky is the compelling lead vocalist and guitarist for the band, he brings edginess and range to their lyrics. The CD has a lot to offer but I particularly liked the groove and vigor of 'Nature Lover' and the in your face punk attitude and diversity of 'Another Year'. Luvatomic is an intense, modern, rock CD driven by a group of very talented players!

TEN FOOT TALL TEN FOOT TALL (EP): A competent and promising 5-song EP that reveals a New Jersey based five-piece who are growing in their craft and extending their stature in the local music scene. A testosterone driven stew of styles - acts like the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Phish, Neil Young and Tom Petty - come to mind when digging into their independently released debut disc. Ten Foot Tall pulls from a wide palate that includes funky New Orleans grooves, searing blues and classic rock coloring. "Too Much Ain't Enough" is the money track here and five songs isn't enough of their lofty craftsmanship and, who knows, maybe Ten Foot Tall will become giants in the industry someday.

This five-man band cooks up a potent brew of improvisational jams combined with lyrics that range from insightful to down right funny. 'Jungle Cat' the opening track is a funky tale about a dangerous women. It starts off with hearty horns that meld into a cool beat and spicy guitar licks. It subtly flows into the second song entitled 'skLorilla' a witty warning that you can't take it with you. Key points are accented with original experimental jams. TEN TON CHICKEN JUST LIKE IN THE OLD COUNTRY Just Like in the Old Country is the latest release from improvisational jam band Ten Ton Chicken. This five piece band out of Berkeley, California melds a flavorful mix of catchy beats, heavy hooks, great guitars and plenty of groove. These talented players brilliantly blend various musical influences such as rock, jazz, funk, blues and progressive to create complex instrumentals and varied vibes. The band has been likened to Frank Zappa and Phish but their musical recipes are tasty originals. The group has been touring and playing to enthusiastic crowds impressing them with their spontaneous high quality musicianship, which glows on this CD. This eight track collection is filled with complex diverse bridge changes, energy and enthusiasm. The opening song 'Punchytown Jamboree' is an instrumental that celebrates funky beats, fast flowing horns, groovy guitars and has plenty of punch. 'Azerbuh' is another great instrumental that just grabs your attention with its creatively and diversity. The guitar work is masterful and reminiscent of Garcia at his best. The horns provided great accents to this beat laden track that clocks in at close to nine minutes. Just Like in the Old Country is a feast of feisty jams, first rate instrumentation and perfect chemistry. I enjoyed every song. This CD is a savory gumbo of red hot jams, spicy horns, scorching guitars and flavorful beats. Enjoy!

TENDERHOOKS DEVIL RIDES WHITE HORSES: Tenderhooks is a singer, songwriter and producer. He also describes himself as a survivor and a traveler, incorporating his experiences with his diverse musical influences ranging from The Doors to Oasis. Tenderhooks' style is a blend of Americana, blues and rock. His thirteen-track CD melds classic musical textures in contemporary settings. Tenderhooks is a dark storyteller, penning visual lyrics in arrangements that are quite innovative. The haunting title track opens the CD with soft instrumentation. The tempo increases on a rhythm that gallops along with striking guitars and raw vocals. The catchy but sinister 'Jealous Love' follows it, which will be the first single from the CD. 'Glass Bubble' is a song of few words but the retro, reverb effects and whimsical beats and vocals are captivating. Tenderhooks is a unique artist crafting music that has classic rock influences in songs that are modern and original!

TERRY MYRICK I BOWED TO THE FATHER: Terry Myrick started singing at a young age in a church choir in Miami, Florida. Since then Terry has relocated to New York City, where he has appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions. Myrick is a music teacher who has also worked with many gospel artists. Terry has perfected his incredible vocal range he can sing baritone to soprano with soulful ease. His lyrics are about life and doubt but most of all his ever-present hope in God. There is no doubt where Myrick's heart and passion lies. He composes spiritual songs that incorporate drum programming, piano, strings, keys, guitars and some rapping. Layered vocals are a big part of his sound. Myrick does list auxiliary singers but the majority of incredible vocals belong to Terry. He aptly describes his music as "contemporary urban gospel combined with a touch of traditional gospel and hip-hop flavor." I Bowed to the Father is Terry's debut twelve-track CD. 'Lord I Just Wanna Thank You' is the opening song. It features fabulous piano work, layered over a steady beat as Terry soulfully sings his gratitude. The song is enriched by multiple harmonizing vocals. 'Alleluia' has a steady, poignant groove as Terry's soprano soars over serious, harmonizing vocals. The track also has a bit of rap for diversity. 'Lay It On Jesus' is slow and sweet with subtle instrumentation. Myrick really holds the high notes on this gospel-powered song. Terry Myrick gives his best to God on this spiritual debut release!

TERRY WALSH & 2 A.M. BUSY BEING BORN: This is a D.A.M. good CD! Terry Walsh and 2 A.M.'s "Busy Being Born" showcases the best tracks from the band's first two full-length releases. They sent us a copy of their mp3.com produced D.A.M. CD and we were quite surprised by the quality. We had heard that D.A.M. CD's left a little to be desired, but it looks as though mp3.com has gotten their act together. This disc arrived complete in a shrink-wrapped jewel box and contained audio tracks, mp3 tracks, and an mp3 player built in! We only wonder why Terry Walsh and 2 A.M. chose not to put a cover on it (part of the free service provided by mp3.com). The music reflects just what the title suggests, a band "Busy Being Born." If you can get through the birthing process listen to the maturing band shine while sounding like a young Springsteen (Serra Angel, Negative Vibes), young Dylan (The Greatest Mystery), and a young Van Morrison (Beautiful Thing). Terry Walsh and 2 A.M. has been called "extremely spirited rock and soul with obvious links to the purer pop forms of classic rock" by their hometown Minneapolis City Pages. We agree!

Tey's delivery is smooth and sultry, easily flowing over up-tempo rhythms. The CD opens strong with the title track written by Tey. The song is melodic with Tey's breathy singing melding over a solid beat and subtle sound effects. Her version of 'Never Knew Love' is lively with Tey's vocals lilting over a danceable drum track. THE ALIBIS FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS: The Alibis, formed in 1998, are four music veterans that blend the best of classic rock with a modern edge. Their debut CD Forty Days and Forty Nights energetically echoes the past sounds of the 60's and 70's but is very much a modern pop album. The Alibis -- keyboardist /producer Peter Elman, lead vocalist/guitarist Mike Costello, bassist Bob Lindfors and drummer Steve Cameron -- call themselves "four veterans of the rock wars" and have spent time in their careers playing with national acts. Each of the multi-talented members of the band plays a variety of instruments and three of the four are songwriters also. This CD is a group effort drawing from the ideas and varied musical experiences of each member, yet it is a cohesive collection. Their lyrics are insightful and well crafted, addressing serious issues such as love, faith and the state of the world. The stories are told passionately with gritty vocals. The Alibis are basically a guitar driven band accented with soulful keys and a solid rhythm section. The guitars jams are skillful and are multi-layered, adding depth to many of the songs. Forty Days and Forty Nights has a variety of moods and good instrumentation. I particular liked the grove on 'Hey Little Mama,' 'Havin a Good Time' and 'Take Me Away' all of which had a great classic rock feel reminiscent of other greats such as Little Feat and The Band.

THE APRIL SKIES THE BREATHE EP: The April Skies are a quartet from Hershey Pennsylvania. They have had a number of personnel changes during their tenure but the current line-up is committed to crafting modern rock with shades of alternative, English pop and retro. All four members sing and lead vocalist Jake Crawford has an intonation and flair reminiscent of The Cure's Robert Smith. Their lyrics are intriguing, taking full advantage of anthem hooks lines such as "Here Comes The Rush". Their instrumentation is lush utilizing solid rhythms, striking keys and spirited guitars. The Breathe EP is well produced and all five up-tempo tracks have something to offer. Of particular note is 'Here Comes The Rush'. A heady bass line carries the song over a number of bridges as electronic accents add spark to the mix. The chorus is catchy and the keyboards give it an echo effect. Midway through the song the pace slows and the mood moves into another stimulating musical direction. The April Skies are currently working on a full length release and this EP indicates it will be entrancing and energized!

THE AQUA VELVETS RADIO WAVES: The Aqua Velvets are a northern California based band. Their latest and much anticipated release is Radio Waves. This CD is packed with great live broadcast performances from 1992-1998. The recordings are crisp and clear. The five members of The Aqua Velvets are cohesive and play with precision. Radio Waves includes music from the Aqua Velvets' four previous CDs as well as some classic surfer covers. This 23-track collection is loaded with fun upbeat jams and beautifully executed slower instrumentals. The Aqua Velvets merge psychedelics with surf music to create powerfully energetic songs. The Aqua Velvets have their own unique sound. Yet, some of their compositions could be the Grateful Dead playing with The Beach Boys. Overall, I enjoyed every track on this release and find it difficult to choose a few favorites. I particularly liked the tone and jams on 'Gringo,' 'Martini Time,' 'Green Sunshine' and 'Blue Rhumba.' A limited edition bonus CD was also shipped with Radio Waves containing a must-hear classic trippy surf-rock cover of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.'

THE BLACK RIVER BAND SECRETS OF THIS TOWN: The five members of the Black River Band have been together for twenty years. Their style is acoustic, classic rock supported by two strong lead guitarists and vocalists. One of them sometimes sounds like Mark Knopfler. The rhythm section is subtle but tight and animated keyboards complete the sound. Secrets of This Town is a look at America via the back roads. The lyrical melodies touch on universal themes and the instrumentation is soft yet haunting but at times the guitars will jump out at you. This eleven track CD utilizes stark production allowing the stories to flow from the singers and the musicians. THE CHURCHILLS THE ODDS OF WINNING: For those of you who haven't heard The Churchills, tune into prime time television and all of that will change. The band's songs have appeared on a number of hit television shows like "ER", "Scrubs", "Meet the Barkers", "Making The Band" and "Everwood" - films suchs as Mira Sorvino's "Too Tired To Die", and tracks from their new album 'The Odds Of Winning' have already been featured on new episodes of "Third Watch", "ER", "Summerland" and MTV's "Parental Control" and "Miss Seventeen". In fact, Meadow Soprano has been seen wearing a Churchills t-shirt on "The Sopranos." The Odds Of Winning may be a bit darker in tone and emotion than some of their previous releases, but equally as infectious with their signature power pop gems like "Sometimes Your Best Isn't Good Enough," heard throughout. This new album retains all the melodic bombast and sparkling hooks of their past work, but adds a twist of bitter sadness. This depth of sad optimism set to riffs so catchy they would make all of Cheap Trick blush. The band formed in New York City in 2000 when founding members Ron Haney and Bart Schoudel got one of their songs into the hands of Michael J. Fox, who put them on three episodes of his show "Spin City." The band appeared playing their song "Everybody Gets What They Deserve" live on the street in the show. Since then they have been featured widely on radio and video outlets around the country, and syndicated on NPR around the world. Other members of the band include Scott Haskitt on drums and Jed Higgerson on guitar. Their 2002 album Big Ideas was met with much critical acclaim and they have played extensively throughout Japan, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. After touring the world, The Churchills are now set to break out of the small screen and into cd and mp3 players everywhere.

THE COLOR GREEN RUST: Rust is the latest release from The Color Green aka TCG a LA rock band. TCG is Jon Kahn who is the founder, lead vocalist and songwriter. He is joined by John Thomas and Holland McRae on guitars, Michael Grate on bass and Todd Wolf on drums. TCG opened for Creed in LA in October of 2002 and was well received. In addition, their music is getting extensive play on California radio, the Internet, films (Girl) and TV programs (MTV's Celebrity Undercover). TCG's music is a blend of roots rock and adult alternative. Their influences includ Springsteen, Pearl Jam and The Wallflowers. Jon's vocals have been compared to Jacob Dylan's. Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers was one of three producers on this ten-track collection. Therefore, Rust builds on a Wallflower vibe but is very unique in its own right. Their sound is colorful and additional instruments such as the organ, mandolin and lap steel add deeper shades to interesting well-constructed songs. Jon has husky expressive vocals and the instrumentation is top notch. The opening track 'You Make The Sun Go Down' has a catchy beat, animated vocals and an eloquent guitar fade out. 'Wasted' is a rich blend of reflective slow pace melodic rock merging into hard rock guitar chords, power packed vocals and a high voltage hook line. This and some of their other songs have these interesting contrasts. The Color Green is painting innovative meaningful music and Rust captures the energy and vibrancy of this talented band.

THE CORB LUND BAND FIVE DOLLAR BILL: Five Dollar Bill is the third album from singer/songwriter Corb Lund. He spent twelve years in a rock band called The Smalls. Corb was born and raised in Alberta Canada in a ranching and rodeo community. These diverse experiences find their way into Lund's thirteen-track collection. Joining him is Dan Dugmore a respected steel guitarist, Tammy Rogers a Nashville fiddler, Ryan Vikedal on drums and Darcy Phillips on piano. The band forms a tight unit that creates country music with a dash of honky tonk. Authentic visual lyrics swirl around western themes in a down-home blend of roots instrumentation. The CD is expertly produced by Harry Stinson who has worked with Steve Earle and Lyle Lovett. The opening title track has a catchy country beat and features fine pedal steel work from Dan. 'Five Dollar Bill' is a rich storytelling song about transporting liquor into the US during prohibition. 'Time To Switch To Whisky' has a foot taping vibe, snappy instrumentation and a crew of "yahoos" singing in the background adding to the genuine sound of a saloon. The closing song could be mistaken for a love song with its sweet reflective tone but it is about Rooster the cow horse. Five Dollar Bill is an authentic CD capturing the essence of old and modern country tones!

The collaboration of the two bands culminates into a colorful blend of pop hooks, tight harmonies and plenty of mulit-layerd guitars. Keith C. writes provocative lyrics and the vocals are rich. Vibrant percussions/bass, lively guitars, multi-hued keys and textured vocals are the colors of choice on this CD. The Crayons have a solid rock sound with touches of alternative and the chutzpah of Oasis. 'Allyson fell off the bike' is the somewhat haunting opening track with a catchy hook line and vivid imagery. 'In A Jar' contains tense guitars, a funky modern beat and jolting lyrics. 'Underground' has dark poetry combined with upbeat instrumentation creating an intriguing paradox complete with textured vocals and plenty of synergy. The Crayons are a colorful band of red-hot guitars, expressive almost blues vocals, sliver smooth percussions and gracious green keys. What Color Are You? is a shade of gray with its fun upbeat vocals and powerful dark lyrics, overall a great combination!

THE CRAYONS WHATS WRONG WITH YOU: On their second album the New York based Crayons reveal darker tones and hues as they ask Whats Wrong With You. The gifted power popsters seem slightly troubled as the moody and ominously melodic "God Hates Me" opens the 12 track disc and is followed by "Unlucky Charm" - a glittering amulet about a hapless encounter. "Here I Go" pops with another tale of leaving. "Here and There" and "Not Beautiful" are two more pretty love songs with themes of fear and isolation. These are top-notch tunes from top musicians as you would expect from the guys - except overall - the tracks feel more sad than sugary leaving us wondering what's wrong with The Crayons.

THE CRUSADERS RURAL RENEWAL: Rural Renewal is the latest release from jazz wizards The Crusaders. These musical veterans have returned to their roots on this eleven track CD. Members of The Crusaders grew up on deep country sounds and the blues. Later, they were inspired by John Coltrane and Marvin Gaye. In the 80's the group went in different directions but recently reformed to play inventive jazz touched with rhythm and blues. Rural Renewal is a tribute to the past yet polished production and lush tones gives it a modern edge. There are many rich sounds to be enjoyed on Rural Renewal. Magical beats, wonderful Wurlitzer, passionate piano, gifted guitars, funky bass lines and Felder's textured tenor make for a tasty musical gumbo. Their songs have diversity and kick. They are joined by guests of the highest order. Eric Clapton plays acoustic guitar on the title track and 'Creepin'. 'Shotgun House Groove' has a catchy beat that flows through imaginative instrumentation. Both meld prime jazz sounds with spicy grooves and spike it with the blues. They are flavorful blends of masterful musicianship in the traditional forum of solos meandering in and out of the composition. The Crusaders are tight, soulful and brings a pure passion to their music. Rural Renewal is rejuvenating!

THE DAY TRADERS THE DAY TRADERS:The Day Traders are a pop/rock duo from the New York metro area. Prior to their self-titled, debut collaboration, they were both in the Connecticut based band The Dent. These two singer/songwriters have crafted an energetic, straightforward rock CD. It has a bit of retro and plenty of bounce. Mitchell Linker has a distinctive high ranging vocal style. Jeff Norberg is a skilled guitarist and harmonizing vocalist. Saul Zonana who produced this polished CD also played bass, some guitars and the Mini Moog. A few guest musicians also appear on this eleven-track collection to contribute keyboards and drums. 'Tonight I Wanna be Sad' is the strong starter and sets the mid-tempo pace for the rest of the CD. It has a snappy rhythm, spirited vocals melding with keyboards and guitars. 'Why' is a questioning reflective song with well thought-out lyrics and instrumentation. 'Worry About You' opens with an interesting exchange between a driving beat and funky sound effects from the Wurlitzer and Mini Moog. This chat meanders it way throughout, as Mitchell's vocals carry the story and the song. The Day Traders' first release is street-smart pop/rock with potential winning hits!

THE DENT FAREWELL: Farewell is the fourth release from The Dent. The Dent are long time friends creating power pop songs touched with classic rock sounds. They have been compared to Paul Simon and REM to name but a few. Farewell is a diverse eleven-track collection of songs that range from intricate melodies, to orchestral ballads to fast paced tracks with a modern edge. The Dent has layered vocal harmonies, catchy hooks and top-notch instrumentation. Farewell is a self produced CD that captures the collective experiences of each band member. 'Fantastic' reminds me of classic Squeeze with its crisp clear vocals, upbeat instrumentation and moves into hard driving guitars and percussion. This track melds various styles into a cohesive bond that is Fantastic! 'Lost Alone' opens with melancholy strings that subtly travel throughout the tune setting the sad expressive tone of the story. Then, edgy guitars and anguished vocals cut in completing the compelling and powerful side of this song. Farewell is full of upbeat pop tempos, melodic rock, tight harmonies and meaningful storytelling. The Dent should fair well with their latest CD.

THE DENT NEUROTICA: The Dent is a harmonizing trio from Fairfield, Connecticut. They have been writing, recording and performing together for over ten years. In that time that have perfected their sound, which can be described as "melodic rock with perfect pop choruses." The Dent has been liken to Vertical Horizon, Cheap Trick and Elton John, which shows that their music is a diverse mix of classic rock and contemporary power pop. Neurotica is their third independent release. They write meaningful lyrics about broken relationships and emotional pain, yet the music is catchy and upbeat with plenty of solid hooks. Jeffrey Norberg expertly handles the guitars on this five-track collection. Mitchell Linker provides solid percussion and D. Raul is skilled on the bass and keyboards as well as production. It is hard to pick favorites on this CD as each song is good and every track has its own unique personality. The songs flow smoothly into one another even as the tone and mood changes. The layered vocal harmonies of the trio blend beautifully together and are one of the highlights of Neurotica, which can be fixating!

THE DESTROYED RUSSIAN ROULETTE: The Destroyed originally started in the 70's during the height of the punk era and recently reformed to carry on the raw, energetic tradition of the genre. J.D. Jackson (guitarist, singer and songwriter) and Bert Switzer (drummer, mixer and producer) are a formable team. Russian Roulette is their third full-length release featuring ten classic punk rock tracks. The tunes are fast paced and intentionally dislocated. J.D. wails his serious lyrics over hard driving guitars and Bert's pounding rhythms. 'Dangerous Bomb', 'A Window' and 'Russian Roulette' were the powerhouses of the CD but all their songs capture the furious, frenzied emotions of punk. The CD has plenty of attitude in arrangements that are organic and primal. J.D and Bert may be music veterans but they bring new blood to the punk revolution!

THE FABULOUS RUDIES THE FABULOUS RUDIES: The Fabulous Rudies are an eight piece band based out of California. Their sound is an eclectic blend of styles with a heavy dose of 80's ska in modern mixes. The Fabulous Rudies' Cassandra Anderson is a charismatic singer and the male vocalists sing with vigor. The group has both modern and traditional rock instruments along with a sassy horn section. Their self-titled debut CD features nine energized tracks including an innovative cover of '99 Luft Balloons'. 'Keep on Movin' has it all - snappy rhythms, horns, turntable, vocal blends (including a bit of rap) and an attention grabbing hook line. 'Profit' also features diverse and full orchestration with rapid rhythms and varied vocals. 'Wheels' is more stripped down with guitars and an upright bass crafting the bulk of the sound, allowing Cassandra's expressive vocals to float to the top of the mix. THE GABE DIXON BAND MORE THAN IT WOULD SEEM: The Gabe Dixon Band is a rock jazz-fusion ensemble sans the guitar. Gabe Dixon is the singer and songwriter for the group. He also plays piano and keyboards. Gabe is an accomplished musician and was the keyboardist for Paul McCartney at the concert for New York show. Winston Harrison provides the strong steady bass lines that drive each of the ten tracks found on this collection. Jano Rio plays percussions with precision, which sets the tone for the CD. Chandler Webber on the Alto Saxophone creates the sultry jazz feel to each well-orchestrated song. The quartet has been touring the New York City music scene, perfecting their unique blend of composition. Gabe's vocals are smoky and soulful and the band is tight. The CD opens with 'Happy Woman' an energetic song with strong vocals, a steady beat and fine keyboards. 'Look Into Your Eyes' is a good example of the smooth interaction between the members of band and it has great hooks. THE GECKO CLUB EVERGREEN: The Gecko Club are musical chameleons and somewhat reptilian in their approach to their craft. The colorful Evergreen has a way of growing on you. They sound is part 80's new wave, part R.E.M., part Styx, part Furs and the Cure and part AC/DC wrapped in a darkly understated neo emo ethos. Curious at first - but by the second listen through it becomes apparent that this amphibian-like rock outfit is an endearing creature like Geico's current spokesman - and these guys will help you save more on indie music. Because, once you go green you might not ever be able go back! Heavy and ambient guitar pop abounds on this CD that peaks with the mesmerizing "Kaleidoscope" and the alluring "Pretty Victoria". The Gecko Club is looking for members - will you climb on their difficult to grasp but solid rock to embrace the evergreen way? You got nothing to lose but a little green!

THE GOO GOO DOLLS LET LOVE IN: The Goo Goo Dolls highly anticipated, long awaited new Glen Ballard-produced album, Let Love In, is finally in stores. Since forming in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls have evolved from a scrappy punk-influenced trio into the platinum-selling, chart-topping act behind such radio staples as "Name," "Iris," "Slide," and "Here is Gone." Along the way, founding members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac left Buffalo, N.Y. for Los Angeles, but Rzeznik soon found that L.A. isn't everything it's cracked up to be. Writing the songs for Let Love In, Rzeznik found inspiration in his hometown. "When you drive down the street and you see the park and the bleachers where you first a kissed a girl, you drive past the house you grew up in, you see the post office where your father worked, you drive through a neighborhood that used to be all factories and now it's just leveled, or you drive by a street and see a beautiful little shop that just opened and how people are really thriving there," he says. "It gives you a lot of hope and perspective." That feeling, hope, and perspective informs Let Love In. "That whole experience kind of opened up my heart," Rzeznik says of the Buffalo sessions. "It was good to feel again. I don't need to feel good all the time. I just want to be able to feel."

THE HOLY GOATS THE HOLY GOATS: Sacrifice The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, Aerosmith, Bad Comapany and the Black Crows into a blender and the zesty result will be The Holy Goats. Yet, their sound is original and their fire and enthusiasm take the classic rock sound to the next level. This four-piece band from central New Jersey are committed musicians who play a great brand of power-rock blues. Their music is a mix of soulful vocals, powerful percussions, raw vigorous guitars and heavy bass lines that are part of their trademark sound. The self-titled debut is a twelve-song collection of roots rock, lusty playing and raw forceful blues. Michelle Eckert, the bassist and only female in the band, adds rich harmonies to Todd McCullough's soulful lead vocals. THE HOOTERS TIME STAND STILL: Philadelphia's pop rockers wait fourteen years and return with a timely CD that takes stock of their past and present by making Time Stand Still. As one would expect this 10-track document finds Eric, Rob and the boys a little older and a whole lot wiser on songs like the title track and "I'm Alive" - both which open the CD in a rocking and raucous manner. A cover of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" is a slower and more serious take on the original and continues the tone with remorseful strains like a warm season passing in the sun. The Hooters continue to keep the time with mid-tempo songs like "Until You Dare" and "Until I Find You Again" which are about looking back and taking chances in moments we are given. "Ordinary Lives" is a thankful and thoughtful ode to the remarkable individuals who make an impact in the singer's lives while leaving a mark on the world - the thought of whom that can transport you back to a single moment in time. In the future, we can only hope the duration between records from The Hooters will be lessened and that we'll get them more frequently, too!

The contrast of speed and styles is potent. 'Wrecking Ball' is the first radio single from the CD that showcases the band's depth and diversity. Lyrics are sung with emotion as the instrumentation ranges from soft to hard rocking, enhanced by some soaring guitar licks. THE LITTLE WILLIES THE LITTLE WILLIES: The self-titled debut by The Little Willies is an album that perfectly distills the fun, down-to-earth spirit of this New York band's club shows. The group - Lee Alexander (bass), Jim Campilongo (electric guitar), Norah Jones (piano, vocals), Richard Julian (guitar, vocals) and Dan Rieser (drums) - tears through a mix of covers and originals, from the revved-up western swing of Fred Rose's "Roly Poly" and Willie Nelson's "I Gotta Get Drunk" to the cutting wit of Kris Kristofferson's "Best Of All Possible Worlds"; from the poignancy of Townes Van Zandt's "No Place To Fall" to the cosmic absurdity of their own "Lou Reed." The Little Willies formed for purely practical reasons. In 2003, the group of five friends, who were all individually involved in other projects, booked a gig at The Living Room on New York's Lower East Side as an excuse to spend an evening playing music together. They soon discovered that they shared a deep musical vernacular. The members of The Little Willies all grew up listening to a certain breed of classic American music: the songs of Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt and Kris Kristofferson, to name a few. Over the next couple years, The Little Willies continued to play, adding a few originals to their setlist along the way. The group initially contemplated a live album, but when Jones and Alexander completed work on their home studio, they decided to christen the space with a Little Willies recording session. The resulting album showcases the group's core strengths, while maintaining the loose, spirited, bar-band feel of The Little Willies' live experience.

THE LOST TRAILERS AMERICAN SOLE: The Lost Trailers officially formed on Independence Day in the year 2000. Shortly thereafter, they were discovered by Willie Nelson, who asked them to support him at a sold out show at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. The band has been touring up and down the east coast, thrilling audiences with their unique blend of musical styles. American Sole, conceived by Lost Trailers co-founders Geoffrey Stokes Nielson and Ryder Lee, is the second in a trilogy of concept albums. It merges elements of the 60's and 70's-styled classic rock and blues, to form their own brand of southern-influenced American-soul music. This CD rocks with horns, blues and country sounds. The Lost Trailers are a solid troop of talented musicians, who bring flair to each song on this collection. The vocals by both co-founders are crisp and engaging as each tale unfolds. 'Family Reunion' has great instrumentation and quick flying vocals. The soulfully-charged 'Walking Blind' followed by the country-funky sounding 'Sidewalks' are also highlights. Overall, American Sole has got plenty of soul in a diversified mix of songs and stories.

Jeff is the mixer over-seeing the project. Knight cites a diversity of influences and Berman has on occasion been compared to a "happy Lou Reed". I'm Batman is a five track EP that blends soft, serious instrumentation in capricious, pop arrangements. Knight's vocals are deep and subdued. THE MARLOWES SUGARBURSTS AND THUNDERBOLTS: Sugerbursts and Thunderbolts is the fourth full-length release from The Marlowes. The Marlowes have been touring up and down the east coast and have been featured on both domestic and international tribute CDs. This four-piece band based out of Providence, Rhode Island smartly blends power pop, new wave, British, modern and garage rock into a fresh twelve track collection. This CD captures a variety of styles and sounds using catchy hooks, fast paced rhythms, cascading keys, experimentation and strong guitar chords. They range from light to dark, melodic to harmonic with a shade of the blues. Listeners will find energizing rockers and smooth ballads on this CD. The CD opens with 'Because of a Girl', which is an attention grabber with its infectious beat, effective storytelling and dramatic guitar work. This upbeat spirit filled CD is rock/blue grass in the highest order. This Colorado based group is about love of life, nature and music, as expressed in this wonderful 15-track collection. Todd and David McCloskey write powerful, reflective lyrics that are poetic and very visual. THE PATRON SAINTS TIME AND PLACE: In 1966, The Patron Saints started out as a garage band. They played gigs in the Westchester County region of New York State. The Patron Saints went through a number of member changes before the 1969 release of their limited edition Fohhoh Bohob record. The Patron Saints continued to transform before becoming the group Garrison sometime in the late 70's. In 2000 Eric Bergman, founder of The Patron Saints, organized a successful reunion concert, which inspired the various incarnations of the band, now living in different parts of the country to make a studio album. Time and Place is the eleven-track epic featuring new songs and a few old favorites that were recorded over the course of a few years. The end result was well worth the wait! The CD is expertly produced blending classic textures and tones in contemporary settings. Eric, who penned the majority of the songs, writes intelligent and thought provoking lyrics. All five of the Patron Saints are passionate players who bring color and depth to songs that explore a diverse range of musical styles and structures. 'You're Dangerous' features daring guitar leads layered over bold rhythms. The song has an old style rock attitude with modern appeal. Time and Place is also a rock history lesson with at least two original tracks that pay homage to classic 60's bands. 'She Loves To Be In Love' has the sound and even the vocal inflections and harmonies of a Byrds' song. Funky rhythms, snappy guitars and creative breaks add to the song's dynamic. 'You Have No Heart' pays tribute to The Yardbirds with its deep, bluesy bass lines dueling with determined drumming. The vocals are serious as the guitars sizzle. 'When You Met Your Maker' relies on sparser instrumentation. The guitars are subtle as Bergman softly asks reflective questions. The Patron Saints celebrate their 40th Anniversary with an impressive new release that captures the power of the past and the musical maturity of the present!

THE POSSIBILITIES WAY OUT: Way Out is the latest release from The Possibilities. This budding five-man band consists of two guitars, bass, drums and keys. Each member is credited with songwriting and all sing. Thus their sound varies based on layered multi-part harmonies, individual vocalists and wonderful triple lead vocals. Way Out incorporates many musical styles and eras. The Possibilities alternate their vintage guitars, amps and tube mikes to create a classic crisp sound. In addition to a 5 Vox the keyboardist plays Wurlitzer, Farfisa and Hammond organs to craft a range of moods. Thrown in for fun they use distortion, fuzz and echoes. Their music is a blend of rock, pop, retro and progressive mixed in with hooks, catchy choruses and a touch of southern twang. 'Invisible' the opening track starts off and flows on organ music that reminds me of a festive carnival. The song is layered and the multi-part vocals are a pageant. 'Invisible' has aptly been described as "Phil Spector meets the Beach Boys." 'Coming in Waves' hits you with a driving drum roll keeping time with funky keys and gyrating guitars. This is a great contemporary retro song that washes over you. 'What Makes You Run' has a harder more modern edgy sound surrounding dazzling vocals and solid instrumentation. The Possibilities have lots of potential and Way Out is a promising collection of musical genres and vocal blends.

THE PRAIRIE DOGS BRAND NEW HEART: Brand New Heart is the debut release from the four-man team known as The Prairie Dogs. The idea behind the band was to meld acoustic guitars with harmonies and melodies. Both the founders Evan Purcell and Michael Shine were writing songs and realized that they wanted a fuller sound so they invited bassist Dave Stolier and drummer Doug Mackey to join the group. Their music is a fresh combination of roots rock-American style with edgy shades of bluegrass and folk. This twelve-track collection has a down home flavor with songs focusing on relationships. The CD has a good flow from start to finish with fine vocal blends, steady soft rhythms, gracious guitars and the harmonica. 'Give My Best' is the strong starting point showcasing harmonies, up-tempo grooves and crafty guitar leads. 'Kelly' features deep lyrics leading to a catchy hook and multi-faceted instrumentation including some soaring guitar leads. 'Poison Apples' is a dark tale with ominous textures and tones. Brand New Heart is a creative blend of old and new styles by four first-rate musicians!

In the early 70's, The Ramones starting in small clubs (most notably CBGBs) introduced amazed audiences to their own unique brand of fast, furious rock. THE REACH THE REACH PODCAST: The Reach is an alternative rock band from Dallas, Texas. The Reach was formed in 1994 and was quickly compared to R.E.M. and The Cure. Today, Craig Miller - guitarist and vocalist - and Tommy Watts - drummer - are working on the band's third album. The Reach Podcast is an experimental, work in progress. The EP is a recording of the first segment of a podcast that allows fans to comment and participate in the process of making music. Craig explains that they will be playing a few clips of songs and they are looking for comments and ideas that may be incorporated into the finished product. The first song 'Hangover', is the closet to being done with solid instrumentation and concise vocals. Song two 'Loving Me' is much rougher with a hodge podge of guitar parts but shows potential. The third song called 'Interpol' is a test of gear and might have been influenced by its namesake. The Reach Podcast is an innovative approach to crafting music using the technology of the Internet to make a record. The finished CD is scheduled to be released in the winter of 2005 and it will be interesting to find out how much feedback The Reach uses in the final mixes.

THE REDEEMERS SHE ROCKS 'N' ROLLS ALL NIGHT & DAY: The Redeemers are four veteran musicians based out of Virginia. Their sound is a blend of many retro sounds including early British invasion, garage rock, country, surf, folk and soul. Most of their songs are written by lead singer and keyboard player Mark Mansfield, who is supported by the talents of Derek Brock on guitars, Hank Burnett on drums and John Stanton on guitars and bass. Their music is fun and the use of horns and duel guitars on some of the tracks adds another dimension to their work. THE RICK RAY BAND TEMPORARY WORLD: Rick Ray is a veteran guitar genius who has released many albums and has collaborated with an impressive list of artists. Since all six members of the band contributed to the album, the songs vary in structure and style. The Rick Ray Band incorporates an array of genres into this album, which can range from acoustic to intense. Hard rock is the strongest ingredient on the CD but it is also flavored with jam, jazz-fusion and progressive. 'Until The End' opens with wild sound effects flowing into deep dark bass and guitar lines that move up and down the scale. Midway the song melds more elements into the mix with innovative keyboards and stirring vocals. By paying his dues he was ready to move to Los Angeles and hook up with the rest of The Rising to produce a CD. THE SAVOY TRUFFLE ROADHOUSE BOOGIE: Upon your first listen of The Savoy Truffle you might think that they are a group of good old southern boys but look at the CD insert and you will be surprised to find that all five players are Japanese. Amazingly, they pen interesting lyrics and sing in English. The Savoy Truffle's music draws from a diversity of influences including the Allmans, British, classic rock and Gov't Mule. Their unique blend of southern rock and blues is poised and passionate. More than half of the nine tracks on Roadhouse Boogie clocks in at over five minutes allowing plenty of room for jamming and innovation. Their sound is a bit different with only one but quite capable guitar player. Instead, they rely on a heavy rhythm section with bass, drums and percussion. Monji Kadowaki, lead vocalist and harmonica player has an edgy style and a varied, vocal range. The CD is strong as a whole but I particularly liked the rocking 'Lowdown Blues', the soulful 'Until You Can Feel It' and snappy 'Don't Beat Around The Bush'. The Savoy Truffle serves up a tasty brew of southern fried rock and spicy blues!

THE SCREWDRIVERS THE SCREWDRIVERS: The Screwdrivers is the self-titled release from this northeastern band that merges American garage rock with modern rock. 'Their sound has been compared to that of Monster-era REM covering songs by Neil Young and the Velvet Underground.' The band formed in 1998, and has been busy touring and promoting their music on the Internet. This innovative group has good production, complex bass lines, powerful percussions, heavy guitars and intriguing vocals. Their ten track originals deal with sex, life and relationships. Their songs are musical montages of moods, hooks, lots of energy and a few ballads. The opening song 'The Internationale' starts with powerful military like drums, diverse bass lines, edgy guitars and stark vocals. This song has a hard rock sound touched by pop. 'I Don't Want to Love You' has pounding drums, funky base lines, animated guitars and punk like vocals that compliant this passionate blend. I also liked 'I Could Make You Wild' with its fierce drums, driving bass, rowdy guitars and interesting vocals. THE STONE COYOTES BORN TO HOWL: Born to Howl is the third release from the rock trio The Stone Coyotes. The band plays a forceful style of rock that melds country, funk, punk and the blues. Their format is scorching guitars, power-packed bass lines, fiery percussion and potent vocals. THE STOOGES FUNHOUSE: In the late 60's and early 70's, The Stooges emerged on the music scene gaining underground fans but limited chart success even thought they were on a major label. The Stooges had diverse influences from jazz great Coltrane to theatrical rockers such as The Doors and Hendrix. They in turn would instigate the future punk and metal movements. The Stooges were musical mayhem fronted by Iggy Pop with his primal vocals supported by a pounding rhythm section and raw guitars. Their songs were gritty tales of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Funhouse was originally recorded live in a studio in 1970. The intent was to try and capture the wild energy of the band's live performances. The 2005 re-issue includes two disks and a booklet with the band's brief story and quotes from Johnny Ramone and Jack White. The first disk features the seven tracks released in the early 70's and the second disk has alternative takes of the original songs and a tune called 'Slide'. 'Down on the Street' and the raunchy 'Loose' grabbed me with their gripping tempos, searing guitars and Pop alternating between singing and screaming. The rest of the CD and other versions maintain the manic pace and power that The Stooges developed in their short but influential history!

THE TELEGENIC ASPHALT GASOLINE CHROME FLESH BLOOD N BONE: The Telegenic is a six person band based out of California. Five of the six sing including songwriter and lead vocalist Jason Heath. Jason writes dark, dramatic lyrics filled with sharp observations. The Telegenic's sound is a mix of classic rock and punk with a modern edge. They site a diversity of influences including The Clash, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Funny enough, Jason who plays organ in the band is the son of E Street Band member Danny Federici. Asphalt Gasoline Flesh Blood N Bone is the band's second release. It is a fourteen-track collection of hard rocking rhythms and retro melodies. The vocals are varied throughout the CD keeping pace with energized instrumentation. 'Turn on (the radio)' sets the driving pace for the rest of the album. The song has an interesting juxtapose of anxiety and hope flowing over a rock solid groove. The lyrics speak about the joys of youth and music but warn that "there is more to be afraid of than just fear." It is followed by 'In Love With My Gun', which is filled with sinister imagery propelled by searing guitars and varied tempos. 'Fairfight' is a commentary about a neighborhood going bad contrasted with an up-tempo beat and striking guitars. The Telegenic transforms a classic rock format into an addictive and original CD!

THE TROPICS STILL GET A CHILL: Still Get A Chill is a seven track reunion CD. The Tropics formed in the 1960's and enjoyed success until they disbanded with each member going his own separate way. This album is the re-release of some of their favorite tunes. It is a nostalgic trip that beautifully blends the experimental sounds of the 60's with the polish of current production. Each song including the opening Beatle's cover is filled with free flowing energy, quality musicianship and synergy. 'For A Long Time' features smooth vocal blends and some fantastic guitar work. The twelve string power chords and funky rhythm guitars are reminiscent of The Byrds' sound but taking it to an even higher level. 'Time' blends an upbeat tempo with a rather bluesy rift. A cool subtle beat and a blazing guitar solo make this song timeless. 'Black Jacket Woman' showcases the band's rich vocal harmonies. Dynamic instrumentation and a melodic hook complete the track. Still Get A Chill captures the creativity of the early Tropics and melds it with the mature musicianship of today's Tropic resulting in a stellar collection. Chilling!

THE WELCOME MATT COPING MECHANISMS: Matt Langlois is the founder, singer and songwriter for The Welcome Matt. The band's style is a blend of classic and contemporary rock. Coping Mechanisms is a limited edition, eleven track CD, released in advance of another album that is currently in the works. The songs were recorded over two years ago and for some reason were shelved. When the tapes were reviewed, Matt and Matt Boudreau who is the drummer and producer for the band decided to finish and release the CD. Coping Mechanisms is an up-tempo pop/rock collection with songs about life and surviving. The CD is concrete from start to finish but the innovative 'Diamond In The Rough' and the hard rocking, guitar driven 'Back Stabbers' were of particular note. THE WELCOME MATT EMPIRE DAYS: The Welcome Matt is singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Langlois. Matt co produced this, his second release with Matt Boudreau who also plays drums on select songs. Other capable musicians support the two talented Matts on this sixteen-track collection. The Welcome Matt reflects hints of classic rockers such as Dylan, Steve Forbert and Lennon, yet Matt's diverse vocal styles and musical arrangements are modern and original. Langlois pens insightful, intelligent lyrics that he can deliver with an edgy rasp or silky, smooth inflections. The CD production is crisp and minimalist, not a lot of bells and whistles but clean allowing each instrument to present well constructed melodies. Empire Days is strong from beginning to end. 'Intro' has a pensive piano solo that bleeds into 'A Rise and A Fall Part 1', which lightly kicks up the pace as the drum blends in. It is followed by the captivating, hook heavy 'In San Francisco' that also features snappy, guitar grooves. 'What Are We Gonna Do?' starts slow as Matt gently strums his guitar as further instrumentation softly eases in, then the rhythm abruptly escalates before returning to a reflective, questioning mood. The song follows this trend until it ends and flows into the up-tempo 'Obstacle Course' which has its own innovative musical twist and turns. The Welcome Matt presents a diverse realm of stories and styles on Empire Days, a welcomed addition to the Kweevak catalogue!

THE WILDWOOD BAND BAD ATTITUDE: The Wildwood Band is an usual collaboration. Lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and harmonica player Wildwood is in his 50's and the rest of the band are music majors from UCSC. Yet the combination works well. Their sound is 60's flavored rock and blues with roots and swamp thrown in for good measure. The Wildwood Band's debut features a dozen originals and a Beatles cover. The CD has plenty of classic textures and tones with vintage effects and some echoes. The album opens with "I Like It Like That" and "No More", both upbeat, flowing on a cool rockabilly vibe. "Locked Up" is aptly handled by guest vocalist Suzanne St. James, who sings on a number of tracks. Suzanne is a soulful singer and the band's funky rhythm compliments her storytelling. Throughout Bad Attitude there is a witty bad boy theme but serious topics are also addressed. The Wildwood Band is an energetic quartet paying tribute to traditional rock and blues on their freshmen release!

THERESA MIELE I AM NOT YOUR PUZZLE TO SOLVE: Theresa Miele is a singer/songwriter who at a young age was required to learn and play classical piano. Today, she is in charge of her own musical muse, which she calls "melodic eclectica". Theresa's songs criss-cross genres from roots rock to punky pop while dabbling in alt country, jazz and techno beats. Miele was raised in the Midwest and has lived in a variety other locations. She draws on her diverse experiences to pens songs about relationships and observations. Theresa writes insightful, visual lyrics. Miele's creative arrangements are handled well by first-class musicians and clean production. Miele has a soulful voice that ranges from low and sexy to high and melodic. I Am Not Your Puzzle To Solve is Theresa's debut release that features ten originals and an edgy cover of 'Addicted To Love'. 'Metrosexual' is a witty description of a good-looking metrosexual sung in a breathy, silky voice blended over a seductive groove. 'Moody Moody Guitar Boy' has an aggressive drum beat driving a snappy rhythm and rhyme. The song, like the boy is moody, brimming with sizzling guitar leads throughout and wild sound effects (bells). Theresa vocals are stunning on this rocking rap. It is followed by the title track that demonstrates Miele's vocal power accented by mellow instrumentation. THIRD ROAD HOME VENUS IN RETROGRADE: Third Road Home is a trio based out of Colorado. Their unusual band name honors the magical and mundane. Their music is enchanting as it looks at the everyday events of life and love. Trinity Demask is the exquisite, lead vocalist and acoustic guitar player for the group. Her husband Tom Demask is dynamic on guitars, bass and the bouzouki. Tom also handles backing vocals and his singing blends well with Trinity's versatile voice. The self-produced CD soars from the opening intro 'Awakening' to the colorful, closer 'Radio Waves'. 'Avalon' is an insightful visual song enriched by striking guitar work and a gentle beat. I liked the snappy, subtle rhythm and rich riffs in 'Reason To Believe'. Trinity's vocals are mesmerizing as she sings about fulfilling your dreams no matter what others may say. It could be a personal song or presented from an insightful observer. Giudice's lyrics are introspective and interwoven into solid choruses, great hooks and good acoustic guitars. Although there is heavy emphasis on the acoustic guitar this is not a folk album but truly a rock and roll CD with a variety of moods. All ten tracks on this collection are soulful and heartfelt; I particular liked the tone of 'Grind,' which is the story of damaged love with excellent guitar work. 'She's So Beautiful' is an upbeat love song with a great groove. Destination Venus is a solid collection by a man who clearly loves music and conveys that through his art.

TODD HERZOG WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE: Todd Herzog is a singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. Todd lives and works in Los Angeles, California and has done vocal tracks for both television and film. In addition, he has worked with well-known artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Dave Merenda. Herzog's music can be described as pop/adult contemporary. What I Wouldn't Give is Todd's debut release. This ten-track collection is the poignant story of personal loss and pain but evolves into a beautiful assembly of ballads. His songs have strong messages that stress the importance of valuing each day and every moment. His poetic tales are a reminder to let people know you care today. Todd's lyrics are philosophical, serious and insightful. Herzog sings from the heart with much passion and has a wide vocal range. Todd is supported by skilled musicians and the CD is well produced. Both 'I'll Be Waiting' and 'Out There' are smooth like a calming stream with heavy undercurrents of deep reflective struggles and tones. Both tracks showcase Todd's diverse vocal inflections and command of musical scales. The title track 'What I Wouldn't Give' has a soft steady beat, gentle expressive guitars and heartfelt vocals. This CD is a very personal powerful work, which teaches that loss is a learning experience and that even in our darkest moments there is still light and growth.

TOM LILLO BLUE EYED MYSTIC: Take the Midnight Train with Blue Eyed Mystic, the debut CD for singer/songwriter Tom Lillo. Based out of Los Angeles, California, Lillo has long been involved in studio work, engineering and production. He is now releasing his own music supported by a team of diversified artists. His first CD draws from various musical disciplines and is backed by good instrumentation. His songs explore love, truth and mysticism in traditional rock and roll format. Lillo's lyrics are deep, reflective and spiritual. His words leave lasting visual impressions. Tom states, "the songs on this record are sometimes ambiguous and could be about a person, or God or both." Blue Eyed Mystic is a trip into the unknown ending in a satisfying journey. Some of my favorite tracks on the CD were "I Found Love," "The Man I Thought I Was," and "Walk on Water," which had a good vibe and situations of confusion and hope common to most of us. Overall, Blue Eyed Mystic is a solid rock and roll CD.

TOM SMITH MUSICAL PICTURES/LITTLE DOGS: Kweevak recently received two wonderful instrumental CDs from Tom Smith. Tom has been playing since 1966 and has toured the United States and the world. Not only does Tom play the guitar, banjo and other stringed instruments he also constructs and repairs guitars. He has shared the stage with such notable musicians as John Fahey, John Hammond Jr. and Todd Phillips to name but a few. Smith draws inspiration from jazz, country, classical and the blues. He paints musical pictures in his well-constructed songs. Tom is a proficient player crafting beautiful instrumental ballads with soulful interpretations and visual effects. Musical Pictures is a terrific thirteen track collection featuring the slide guitar, finger picking, banjos and alternative tunings. All these musical montages are played on instruments that Tom built, therefore, there is an even deep intimacy and majesty to his music. I enjoyed the entire CD as a whole but of particular note was 'Leprechaun' a dancing instrumental with upbeat banjos and plenty of Irish musical history and 'Porpoises' which flows on majestic guitar chords and smooth acoustic tones that capture the feel and tone of the ocean. This CD is diverse and captures a variety of moods and playing patterns. Little Dog contains thirteen originals with plenty of finger style guitar, banjos and complex techniques. The liner notes included some observations and possible inspirations behind each track. The title song 'Little Dog' incorporates different playing styles with an upbeat sound. 'What Willie Wants' starts off slow and sweet and meanders into multifaceted chords and varied speeds and tones. It is another prime example of Tom masterful musicianship. Tom is a skilled contemporary guitar player and producer creating magical music. Both CDs are winners!

TOMAS MICHAUD - BEAUTY AND FIRE: Have you ever wondered what Santana and the Gipsy Kings would sound like jamming with the house band in a Moroccan Cafe after having a Turkish bath and massage? That's one way to describe the eclectic and appealing instrumental offerings on Beauty and Fire - the seventh CD from Michaud. This is music that lifts your spirit, and inspires your soul and we can tell you that the production is lovely and the songs are refined to a high level of purity. Tomas Michaud is a master guitarist, composer and producer who was possessed by the muse of music early in childhood. Tomas developed his musical technique with the trumpet, electric bass and mandolin before he discovered his first love, guitar, at the age of fourteen. Soon he was performing throughout the San Francisco Bay Area developing a popular following which now numbers in the thousands. On Beauty and Fire's twelve tracks Michaud excels on lengthy excursions to warm the heart and ignite passion in the mind of the listener. The title track is bouncy and expressively warm with clear notes and a fluid fretless bass guiding the opener. "Tango In Paradise" is a five-minute trip to Spain and a moment of musical bliss. "Gipsy Heart" and "Two Hearts Into One" point out the theme of the fiery nature of love and both tracks smolder as Michaud and band fan the flames. Tomas uses a palette of Flamenco and Spanish guitar techniques to paint a fusion of New Age, smooth jazz and world music portraits that reaches the soul and elevates the mind through a mystical and sensual sound experience that will send a tingle up your spine.

TOMAS MICHAUD I MUST BE DREAMING: I Must Be Dreaming is the second release from flamenco guitarist, composer and producer Tomas Michaud. In addition to recording and performing, this San Francisco Bay resident is an instructor. Music has been an important part of Tomas' life from a young age. He has traveled the world and has incorporated the powerful musical influences of Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico and other Latin American nations into his own unique sound. Michaud surrounds himself with other talented players and his production is polished. Michaud's music is an enchanting mix of jazz, new age and world. He blends exotic rhythms, fervent guitars and passionate playing into each of the twelve tracks found on this instrumental collection. I Must Be Dreaming has a mystical spiritual tone. In many ways, Tomas' songs could be odes to nature based on their titles and expressive interpretations. A prime example is the graceful soothing quality of 'Sweet Rain Falling' where the guitar inspires pictures and sounds of a gentle rainfall. This song is both beautiful and refreshing. 'Luna' has a soft subtle beat and later some creative percussion to compliment amazing fretwork, thus capturing the warmth and passion of a moonlight dance. 'Summer In September' is another powerful composition with skillful guitar solos, reflective instrumentation and subtle musical changes as the season comes to a close. Tomas Michaud is a passionate player and I Must Be Dreaming is magical!

TOMAS MICHAUD NEW WORLD FLAMENCO JAZZ: New World Flamenco Jazz is the fifth release from Tomas Michaud a multi-talented instrumentalist whose primary focus is guitar. Tomas's early influences include Santana and later Gipsy Kings and Ottmer Liebert. Michaud's latest CD like previous works is inspired by exotic locations and musical cultures. The title implies that this twelve-track collection will be jazz oriented with world textures from south and Central America, Spain and the Middle East. Yet, the CD is so much more. Besides rich ethnic tones, the CD has a cool groove and a subtle touch of the contemporary smooth jazz sound. Tomas and the other brilliant players on this CD have created a dozen enchanting compositions. Every song is compelling and each diverse piece is played with passion and precision. Interestingly my two favorite songs on the CD both bare titles of a spiritual implication. 'Whispers of Paradise' and 'Awakened by an Angel' are inspiring and are filled with rich beautiful sounds and musical solidarity. New World Flamenco Jazz is a cornucopia of world styles, masterful musicianship and beautiful tones demonstrating once again that Tomas Michaud is a dynamic player who creates "music that lifts your spirit and sooths your soul."

Quietly There features thirteen originals and a poignant cover of The Beatles 'Eleanor Rigby'. UFO Jim's songs are imaginative, blending the blues with rock, funk, hip-hop and a dash of celestial. His music has been described as "Frank Zappa jamming with ZZ Top". Jim writes lyrics that are filled with dark imagery and zany insights. His production methods at times are unorthodox but work in the context and diversity of UFO's music. 'China Belle' is the opening track with its funky beat and wild keyboards combined with chunky bass lines and Jim rapping about weird scene in San Francisco. 'Pretty Little Fiend' flows on a swirling B3 and an up-tempo, bluesy beat leading into the funny hook line "pretty . . . fiend". VAN MORRISON MAGIC TIME: Van Morrison was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1945. Van grew up listening to blues greats such as Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. In 1964, Morrison formed the R&B band Them and in 1967 started his solo career working with jazz musicians on Astral Weeks. Since than, Van has explored and recorded a diversity of musical styles. Today, Morrison is still a creative multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer. Van is supported by a group of seasoned players including guitarist Foggy Lyttle who the album is dedicated to. Magic Time is an eclectic mix of originals and some traditionals. This thirteen-track collection covers a gamut of genres and moods from blues to Celtic to jazz and rock. As expected, Van's songs are well written, some are "quasi autobiographical" and others are metaphorical. Morrison sticks to his musical principals giving new tracks a familiar feel and handling covers with dignity. 'Stranded' opens and closes with Van playing a soulful, alto sax. The rest of the instrumentation is gentle allowing Morrison's lament "I'm stranded" to lead the song. 'Celtic New Year' features the Irish Film Orchestra along with gentle yet lush instrumentation and Van's expressive vocals. 'They Sold Me Out' is a spiritual song about Jesus but could also be applied to Van. The song has a subtle gospel vibe but the electric piano and rock instruments make it a contemporary piece. Magic Time is enchanting and Van Morrison is still a magical musician!

VARIOUS ARTISTS FOREVER NEIL DIAMOND: Shout! Factory celebrates the songwriting talents of superstar musician and performer Neil Diamond with a brand new collection of songs on CD. Recorded by a tremendously varied group of artists over an equally expansive period of time, Forever Neil Diamond showcases the wide appeal of these 14 Diamond-penned classics. Beginning with pop band The Monkees' 1967 #2 Billboard pop chart hit "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" to the legendary Elvis Presley's 1970 recording of "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" to alternative rockers Urge Overkill's cover of "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," Diamond's songs have stood the test of time and successfully traverse musical genres. As Robbie Robertson recently stated, "In the brilliant Tin Pan Alley tradition of songwriters, Neil Diamond is one of the greatest ever." Though Diamond remained popular as a performer through the '70s, '80s and '90s, it was UB40's cover of "Red Red Wine" that took Diamond to the very top of the charts again in 1988, and Neil Diamond became "cool" in the eyes of the Gen-Xers. Alternative band Urge Overkill sealed the deal two years later with "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" which became a hit when it appeared in the box office giant Pulp Fiction. More recently, Irish punk legend Shane McGowan recorded "Cracklin' Rosie" and indie rockers Crooked Fingers (former members of Archers of Loaf) took their own stab at "Solitary Man." Forever Neil Diamond includes it all - Motown, R&B, rock 'n' roll, bubble gum pop, dance hall, Irish punk and more. The various artists included on this collection simply recognize a well-crafted song when they see one, no matter what musical genre they represent. Inarguably, Neil Diamond knows how to write a great song.

Static Revenger's remix of "Need You Tonight" was voted one of the top three tracks at last year's Winter Music Conference, and New Order's Peter Hook debuted The Crystal Method's remix of "Bizarre Love Triangle" during his DJ set at the conference. And when Adam Freeland premiered his remix of "Nowhere Girl" during his set at Hollywood's Avalon this spring, the crowd went crazy!

VARIOUS ARTISTS NASCAR 3D: THE IMAX EXPERIENCE-ORGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK: NASCAR continues to grow in popularity and racing is now the number one spectator sport in America. The season begins in February with the Daytona 500 and runs through November. In 2004, NASCAR released an IMAX film about the sport. The film was a huge success and it is being re-launched in 2005 in conjunction with a DVD and this rocking CD. NASCAR 3D features fourteen-tracks from popular country, pop and rock musicians. The diverse mix also included two scores by Eric Colvin that remembers Dale Earnhardt and captures the excitement of "start your engines". Platinum selling artist LeAnn Rimes sings an inspiring rendition of the 'Star Spangled Banner'. The CD opens with the high-octane 'Boom' by P.O.D. This song powers one of the most memorable racing shots in the IMAX film. It is followed by the southern infused 'Firing Line' a newer song by The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama'. The pace keeps racing with Sheryl Crow's 'Steve McQueen', LeAnn's energized 'I Got It Bad' and a Wes Cunningham cover of the 'La Grange'. VARIOUS ARTISTS PURE '80s #1s: The '80s were a hit-and-miss decade. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pac-Man, MTV, "Miami Vice," "Cheers," "The Cosby Show," the CD, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were hits. The New Coke, the return of Haley's Comet, and the DeLorean were misses. On the music charts, the hits and misses were just as obvious. Eighteen of the hits--all songs that peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, 11 of them gold or platinum--are now heard on Pure '80s: #1s (Hip-O/UMe). First out of the box are 1981's gold "Kiss On My List" from the blue-eyed soul duo of Daryl Hall & John Oates and the gold, Oscar(r)-winning "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" from Christopher Cross as heard in classic comedy film. From the following year, Pure '80s: #1s culls another soundtrack, Rocky III, for the Oscar-nominated, double platinum "Eye Of The Tiger" from Survivor and the platinum "Down Under" from a band from Oz, the Colin Hay-led Men At Work. 1983 contributes a handful of vintage gems: "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" from progressive rock giant Yes, the gold Sting-penned "Every Breath You Take" from The Police, and gold "All Night Long (All Night)" from Lionel Richie, who also wrote and co-produced the song heard on his Grammy(r) Album of the Year Can't Slow Down. Two other songs, however, are even more indelibly associated with the '80s: the quirky gold "Karma Chameleon" from the Boy George-fronted Culture Club and Oscar-nominated "Maniac," the Michael Sembello performed-written-produced track heard in Flashdance. From 1984, another song with movie ties, Tina Turner's gold "What's Love Got To Do With It," appeared on her blockbuster Private Dancer album and lent its title to her autobiography and hit biopic. The year 1985, recently made famous by the Bowling For Soup radio hit baring its name, contributed "Kyrie" from Mr. Mister and a pair of anthems: Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" and Robert Palmer's gold "Addicted To Love." Pure '80s: #1s closes the decade with 1989's "The Living Years" from Mike + The Mechanics, the gold, Diane Warren-penned "When I See You Smile" from Bad English and gold "She Drives Me Crazy" from Fine Young Cannibals.

VARIOUS ARTISTS WHATEVER The 90's Pop & Culture CD Sampler: Whatever is a twelve-track collection of 90's music. It is a small sample of the Whatever seven-disk box set that was released in July of 2005. The sampler and complete box set are a broad look at the music of the 90's ranging from pop, rap, rock and more. The seven CD set features one hundred thirty songs from a variety of artists and genres. The box set also comes with an eighty-four-page booklet that has a 90's timeline, commentary and photos. Since some labels would not permit their artists to be a part of the project, grunge's Nirvana, pop superstars the Backstreet Boys and some notable others are missing from this ample assortment. The seven CDs cover a diversity of music ranging from M.C. Hammer to Moby. The twelve track CD is a mix, starting with Deee-Lite's danceable 'Groove Is In The Heart' followed by Naughty By Nature rapped by O.P.P. My Bloody Valentine's 'Only Shallow' is an edgy rocker with a touch of goth. House of Pain performs 'Jump Around' which is heavy on raps, rhythms and sound effects. En Vogue's 'Free Your Minds' captures the popularity of harmonizing girl groups singing over dance beats. 'God' by Tori Amos reminds us that other women in the 90's were performing strong, startling music. Tori is followed by the innovative and quirky Flaming Lips and R.E.M.'s 'What's The Frequency Kenneth'. Track nine features The Rembrandts singing the complete version of the theme from Friends. Jewel, the evolving folk rocker won countless fans in the 90's with 'Who Will Save Your Soul'. The Barenaked Ladies entertained us with their unique fun approach to music and the sampler concludes with the pop-rock sensation the Goo Goo Dolls. Whatever captures the music of the 90's in a diverse and delightful mix!

VERSAILLES BELIEVE: Dianna St. Hilaire aka Versailles is "the Goth girl with the piano". Dianna is a singer, songwriter and keyboard player from California. Her influences include The Cure and Tori Amos. St. Hilaire often performs as a solo artist but on this four-track sampler she is supported by Andy Bettis on lead guitar and Rod Arias on electronic drums. Dianna's music is dark wave, alternative with atmospheric piano chords. St. Hilaire pens shadowy lyrics but her sweet, high ranging voice keeps the songs from being too scary, yet her music is haunting. Dianna sings with raw emotion and her classical piano playing adds character and originality to her songs. The CD features two versions of the title track 'Believe'. The first focuses on moody keyboards and vocals, whereas the second translation relies more on tempos but St. Hilaire's singing is still central. 'Lamentations' was my favorite track and featured dramatic vocals and instrumentation combined with grave guitars. Versailles takes Goth to a higher level and hearing is believing!

VESPER VESPER: The core members of Vesper are Aaron Lewis a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer, and Katie Cooper who also plays several instruments, composes and sings. They are joined by guest players who add cello and drums to their eclectic style of music. Vesper's sound is gothic and heavy but softened with the use of various Middle Eastern instruments. Both Aaron and Katie pen songs that are haunting and poetic. Vesper's self-titled, three-track maxi-single is in advance of their full-length release that is currently in the works. 'First Frost' is intriguing with its blend of dark vocals and instrumentation juxtaposed with light Middle Eastern melodies and textures. 'Cinders' smolders with fiery bass lines and scorching guitars layered over Katie's sweet but provocative vocals. 'Subway Sonata' combines sound and vocal effects over a concrete rhythm and durable guitar leads. Vesper is a forceful duo creating music that is diverse, dramatic and a sonic boom!

VICKI LEE DREAM AS IF YOU'LL LIVE FOREVER: Vicki Lee has been singing professionally for almost a decade, winning accolades and awards along the way. Lee is a commanding, versatile vocalist who brings just the right tone to her eleven originals and an impressive cover of 'My Heart Will Go On'. I was surprised that songwriter Vicki Lee and her collaborator and mother Laura Smith are from the state of Maine. This CD has the heart and soul of Nashville, yet it cannot be pigeonholed into the country genre as Vicki blends the blues, pop and rock into many of her songs. 'Crossing' On Over' is the up-tempo opener. Honky-tonk piano combined with some stellar slide keeps the song flowing along with the roar of a Harley. Vicki's vocals are sassy and harmonize well with Laura's parts. 'Don't Get Me Started' contrasts a perky tempo with Lee's feisty description of a bad day. 'Angels on Golden Wings' is slow and sweet. It is a moving tribute to those who died on 9/11. The slide guitar and piano convey the sorrow of losing a loved one as Vicki's vocals soar. Vicki Lee, Laura Smith and their band have crafted a first class CD!

VICTORY GIN TENDER LOIN: They say don't throw pearls to swine but on their pork-themed Tender Loin - Victory Gin, the ambitious band from Red Bank, New Jersey has delivered an alt-country gem that's delicious! No need to refrain from this 13-song album that will deliver you to hog heaven. This CD is tasty like a supple boar but is in no way boring. On tracks like "Hogs" which has the singer apologizing to the hickory smoked creature about to be eaten - and "Milk" where they cry about spilt saucers while yodeling on the welfare line - the band reveals a rocking rural humor that is capable of carrying the mainstream! The four-piece original act has created their own mix of rock and roll, bluegrass, Americana, soul and vocal stylings that is sure to keep your interest and coming back for another shot of this soulful sow again and again.

WAMPUS MULTIMEDIA AFTER HOURS: After Hours is a tribute to influential rocker Lou Reed. Since the late 60's to the present, Lou Reed has inspired many musicians and genres. Some consider him the godfather of punk and he is well respected for insightful lyrics and eclectic, diverse sounds. Wampus Records is "an indie label run by artists for artists." They support various genres and their tribute CD is a great venue to feature up-and-coming musicians. This fourteen-track collection covers a wide spectrum of Reed's music. All the interpretations are interesting and prepared with passion and precision. Production is first rate and the diversity of songs and styles is top quality. My particular favorites are as follows. 'Sunday Morning' featuring Johnny J Blair and the Cellarbirds. Johnny has crisp clean vocals that are ideal for storytelling. The Cellarbirds provide imaginative instrumentation that captures the positive energy and optimism of the song. 'How Do You Think It Feels' by tvfordogs is funky with magical keys contrasting with edgy guitar leads and varied vocals. The Underhills cover of 'Turn To Me' has twanging intriguing guitar work, subtle beats and vocal inflections reminiscent of Lou himself. Overall, this eclectic collection captures the essence of Lou Reed's while featuring talented emerging artists. Enjoy!

WAMPUS MULTIMEDIA HURRY HOME EARLY THE SONGS OF WARREN ZEVON: Hurry Home Early features thirteen Zevon songs interpreted by indie musicians from the United States and the United Kingdom. Zevon was an artist torn between despair and hope and his music was diverse and dynamic. This collection spans Warren's career from the late 60's until his untimely death in 2003. The selections include some lesser-known songs, yet Warren's wry and wit still shines through. Each band on this tribute CD captures the dark essence of Zevon but adds their own colorful, contemporary stylings to the music. Highlights of the album include Phil Cody's edgy cover of 'Splendid Isolation', The Matthew Show's version of 'Mohammed's Radio' and Alpha Cat's pop/rock interpretation of 'Reconsider Me'. The whole CD is interesting, showcasing emerging talent and some of Warren's many musical nuggets. In addition to producing an eclectic, impressive CD, Wampus Multimedia is donating $1.00 from each Hurry Home Early sale to the American Cancer Society.

WHITNEY CLINE BRING ON THE RAIN: Whitney Cline is a producer, singer and songwriter. Whitney also plays guitar and vox on her thirteen-track, debut release. Cline is a strong, passionate vocalist supported by stellar musicians who add bass, cello, drums, piano, organ and more guitars to the mix. Whitney writes intelligent, insightful songs about duality and journeys. Her influences include The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell and other classic rockers. Whitney incorporates old style into contemporary well-arranged compositions. Clines' music is a soulful blend of folk, pop, roots rock and world. 'Bring On The Rain' flows on Whitney's sultry vocals and innovative instrumentation. The slide and subtle whah-whah guitars add country and blues to mix as the piano and B3 add a southern jazz flavoring. 'Closer To You' is a haunting song about a painful relationship. Cline's vocals are full of emotion and powerful in its range. The gentle tempo and guitars add to the aching sentiment of the song. Bring On The Rain is the type of CD that just keeps growing on you as the songs are multi-layered both lyrically and instrumentally. Whitney's music has wide range appeal and Cline has star appeal!

WIDESPREAD PANIC EARTH TO AMERICA: Widespread Panic is back with Earth To America, the band's first studio album since 2003. For their latest album, Earth To America, Widespread Panic wanted to try something new - a new producer, a new studio, even a new country in which to work. It's what brought them to the Bahamas to work with producer Terry Manning, an inspired pairing that yielded some big rewards. Says Todd Nance (drums), "It's like he was waiting for us to touch upon what he was thinking. It was effortless; there wasn't a moment when we didn't know where to go or what to do." Adds John Bell (vocals, guitar), "He brings out some really heavy and rich tones." Perhaps more than any other word, "adventure" embodies the spirit of Widespread Panic. From their humble genesis in 1986 at the University of Georgia, where Bell first met guitarist, vocalist and band namesake Michael "Panic" Houser, all the way to the band's twentieth anniversary, adventure has fueled the journey. As JB explains, "You do make a plan, but the plan is to not have a plan." And it's this willingness to dive head-first into the unknown that has established one of the most rabid and loyal fan bases the music industry has ever seen a fan base that has accounted for the sale of over 3 million albums, attendance records at some of the nation's most prestigious venues, and more than a decade on Pollstar's Top 50 tours of the year list. But it's not just the music world that has taken notice. In addition to the band showing up in the pages (and in some cases on the cover) of all the major music magazines, Widespread Panic's revolutionary business model has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Variety, Billboard Magazine, CNN, CNBC and Fortune Magazine.

WILLIE NELSON NAKED WILLIE: American country singer-songwriter, Willie Nelson takes a cue from The Beatles and strips down some of his earliest music to reveal just the singer and the song. Naked Willie, a 17-track collection of songs written and recorded by Nelson between 1966 to 1970, lays bare Willie's original vision of those songs for the first time, with Willie's vocals at the core, and bare bones 'A-team' guitars, piano, bass and drums mixed as they were originally heard in the studio. The results are pleasing and the anthology of vintage RCA sides reveals a young and earnest entertainer seemingly fully developed and ready to go from the start. Nelson's familiar vocal stylings and warm delivery are present throughout on tracks like "Bring Me Sunshine", "Following Me Around" and "The Ghost". "Happiness Lives Next Store" is a well formed tale of lost love. "I Just Dropped By" echoes "Always On My Mind" - his song that would hit it big later down the road. The most shocking thing about Naked Willie is the CD exposes how much the artist has changed - and stayed the same - over the years.

WILLIE NILE BEAUTIFUL WRECK OF THE WORLD: Willie Nile is a well respected singer, songwriter and producer who has worked and performed with Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Barenaked Ladies and many others. Willie also plays guitar, piano and keyboards. Beautiful Wreck of the World has received rave reviews from critics and fellow musicians such as Bono. This thirteen-track collection spans a wide range from guitar-laden rockers, to ballads to reflective folk. Nile's music has a Dylan vibe and he writes profound powerful lyrics just like Bob. This CD gets better with each playing as subtle instrumentation such as the tambourine, the echo harp, the Uilleann Pipes and the organ reveal themselves. Other tracks feature strong guitar leads layered with fine rhythm guitar chords. Nile has an intriguing voice that is a little rough but his words are clear and concise, which is important as his songs are compelling. The CD starts strong with 'You Gotta Be A Buddha' an up-tempo folksy rap that outlines the woes of the world and melds into the catchy hook line. It also features some fine guitar work. 'History 101' is witty and has a great funky groove and more impressive guitar parts. 'On the Road to Calvary' written for Jeff Buckley is haunting and rich with expressive visual lyrics enhanced by the echo harp. Beautiful Wreck of the World is a beautiful collection of diverse songs from a multi-talented musician!

WILLIE NILE STREETS OF NEW YORK: Willie Nile has completed Streets of New York, his first album since 1999's acclaimed Beautiful Wreck of the World. In what U2's Bono has called "a great album . . . the songs all stand on their own," Nile has crafted what many feel is the best album of his career. Praise for Nile's new effort comes from a number of legendary artists. Lou Reed, for instance, calls Streets of New York "a great album." Graham Parker opines: "Willie Nile's Streets of New York is a real gem - stirring melodies, passionate vocals, intriguing lyrics . . . every track a winner." Lucinda Williams comments: "Willie Nile is a great artist. If there was any justice in this world, I'd be opening up for him instead of him for me." Ian Hunter says: "Willie's from the big-hearted downtown alleyways of NYC (New York commitment). Well done!" And Little Steven adds: "Willie Nile is so good I can't believe he's not from New Jersey!" In making Streets of New York, Nile turned to some friends for help. Jakob Dylan and Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers appear on the songs "The Day I Saw Bo Diddley in Washington Square" and "Game of Fools." Larry Campbell, formerly of Bob Dylan's band, played on various songs. The band heard on every track on the album features Andy York (John Mellencamp, Mary Lee's Corvette), Brad Albetta (Rufus and Martha Wainwright) and Rich Pagano (Fab Faux, Rosanne Cash). The album contains 13 original tracks plus a cover of The Clash's version of Eddy Grant's "Police on My Back." The song "Cell Phones Ringing (in the Pockets of the Dead)" was written in honor of the victims of the Madrid train bombings, though there always seems to be new tragedy for which it's appropriate.

WOMEN IN DOCS UNDER A DIFFERENT SKY: Women in Docs is a dynamic duo from Australia. Both Chanel Lucas and Roz Poppalardo are singers, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. Their sound is a mix of alternative folk and pop. Chanel and Roz pen lyrics that are humorous and observational. They are supported by talented musicians and vocalists who add layers to acoustic based songs. Many of the eleven tracks on this CD feature bouncing rhythms. Chanel and Roz's vocals are effective individually or in harmony. Although Under A Different Sky is their debut full-length CD, Women In Docs are seasoned players who have performed at many festivals in Australia and beyond. Their music is spirited even when there is a sad or serious undercurrent. 'Crown Street' and 'I Wanna See' are snappy folk tunes, but listen more closely and there are a lot more great sounds to be heard including strings on song two. I also liked the unusual 'Noise Pollution' with its rapid rhythms and punk inspired vocal inflections. Women In Docs write songs that are honest and original, presenting them in elevated folk rock settings!

WOODEN STARES A STORY AS SAD AS IT'S TOLD: The Wooden Stares is an energetic quartet based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Their songs have a classic yet contemporary sound that runs the gamut from hard rocking to melodic. Wooden Stares' twelve-track debut has already created a buzz along with comparisons to well establish bands such as Modest Mouse and Toadie. They are also building a strong reputation for their live shows. The Wooden Stares are already working on a second album. Lance Lamberth is a versatile vocalist, who sings with passion, reminiscent of Eddie Veder. The rest of the band brings diversity, innovation and power to lyrics that are filled with often dark, imagery. My two favorite songs on the CD ("Machine" & "Red Metal Box") are what I would call epics. Both were dynamic with lots of drama, enhanced with interesting bridge and chord changes, going well beyond a quick rock tune. Wooden Stares is potent and their freshman release is hard-hitting and original!

WOODY RUSSELL SALT: Woody Russell is a singer/songwriter who also plays banjo, guitar and loops. Woody, who first picked up the guitar at age seven, has performed at many well-respected events including Newport Folk Festival and Nashville New Music Conference. Russell's songs flavorfully blend a roots-rock base with blues, country, jazz and soul. He is skillful at melding modern and vintage seasons into well-produced songs. Russell is supported by a talented band playing lap steel, upright bass and additional vocals. Woody's lyrics look at the human experience with stories ranging from forgotten to victorious. Yet, his music is humorous and offers glimpses of hope. Salt is an eclectic mix of styles and all fourteen tracks are filled with rich imagery. 'Count On Me' is the strong opening track with standout jazzy instrumentation with each discernible as Woody warmly sings his visual lyrics. In comparison, the second song 'Parts and Labor' is witty and has an up-tempo, country flavor. 'Leaving' is slow and sweet with reflective lyrics and stellar, steel leads. Salt is a diverse, bold collection and a good complement to any music collection!

WREN OWENS WREN: Wren is the self-titled debut release from Wren Owens. Wren has been singing since a young age, later she focused her attention on acting and has appeared in commercials, videos and films. Wren is currently running a spiritual retreat center in western New York State, which allowed her time to record some of the many songs she has penned over the years. Her songs are stories filled with emotions, tales of happiness and lyrics of loneliness, topics that anyone can relate to. Wren's music melds a variety of genres including classic rock, jazz, American blues with hints of both pop and swing. She is joined by four other talented players who provide guitars, bass, drums, keys and production. The finished product is a twelve-track collection with many moods and stylings. Wren has a deep sultry voice and sings her diverse songs with passion. The instrumentation throughout the CD is first rate, as band members have their own musical history to draw from. Wren and the band combine rhythms and melodies to create songs with varied paces and tones. Wren is a great start for this budding musician!

X2: MATT ABTS & JOHNNY NEEL X2: X2 is a collaboration of two busy brilliant musicians. Matt Abts is the drummer for Gov't Mule and Johnny Neel is a multi-talented artist involved in numerous projects. The two re-met through Blue Floyd a band that covers Pink Floyd music with a touch of improvisational blues. The positive experience of playing live together led to the idea of creating a rock and blues jam album. Neel provides piano, organ, Moog bass pedals, harp and vocals on this nine-track collection. Matt is the drummer and plays all percussion on this innovative CD. X2 is a musical gumbo of genres that includes roots rock, the blues, jazz, southern Delta Boogie, R&B and funk. Abts and Neel are able to create a full rich blend that is dynamic and dramatic. Spontaneity is the key ingredient as most of the songs are first takes with little or no enhancements. This CD is simple in format yet the flavors and sounds are complex. The recipe of impromptu jams works well as both artists are professional and passionate about their music. Rhythm and melodies meld on this collection which is delicious from start to finish.X2 is a winning combination!

YA-NE-ZNIYOO ALL IS NOT LOST: Ya-Ne-Zniyoo is a Russian phrase that means I don't know. A puzzling name for a puzzling band that does not fit into any one genre. Ya-Ne-Zniyoo is Eric Schmitz on acoustic guitar and vocals, Stephen Bailey on electric, Craig Meyer on bass and Doug Hammond on drums and percussion. This fifteen-track collection is self-produced and the fourth release for the latest lineup. Like many groups, Ya-Ne-Zniyoo, which formed in 1989, has been through a number of personnel and musical direction changes in their history. Ya-Ne-Zniyoo's latest CD is dark, harmonic rock with metal edges and classic rock riffs. The band states that they play their original compositions in a variety of forms from unplugged acoustic, to heavy electronics to more minimalist interpretations. All Is Not Lost utilizes the more heavy sound of a full band. The songs are diverse with disturbing lyrics, varied tempos and fluctuating moods. 'Razor Dog' is the opening track. It starts off with an acoustic lead and soon bristles up to a sharp up-tempo beat and biting, electric guitar riffs. It is followed by 'Black Cat' with its jagged tempo and guitar leads moving in a bunch of unexpected directions, complete with muffled almost screeching vocals to accent the tale. 'Grizzle Bear' features a slower more lumbering tempo with deep bass lines and more focused vocals before chasing a more dramatic beat and guitar leads. All Is Not Lost is an eclectic mix of music from a group of innovative players!

YEARS OF STATIC THIS IS NOT A TEST: This is not a Test is the debut album from the New Jersey rock quartet Years of Static. Formed in 1998, by two long time friends and other players, the band brings experiences and newness to This is not a Test. Literal lyrics that have deeper meanings add intensity and integrity to all their songs. This twelve-track collection features dynamic dueling guitars, fuzz tones, vocal harmonies and other subtle instrumentation such as the sax and old time piano. Their sound transcends genres, Years of Static melds rock, funk, jazz and folk into both traditional and modern rock formats. High-powered energy and high quality musicianship prevail on this CD. The opening track 'Let You Down' features complex beats, smoldering guitar chords, compelling vocal blends and a catchy hook. 'Finally' has an edgy tone with a decisive beat, textured tones and more first-rate harmonies. The closing 'Lo-Sci-Fi' is an attention grabber with its multifaceted percussion, funky bass lines, an energized piano solo, more cool guitar work and an almost fresh new wave vibe. Year of Static passes the test with flying colors on their diverse debut CD!

ZAK DANIELS AND THE O.E.S. - SNAKELAND: Snakeland is a place that slithers with salaciously sleazy songcraft that is firmly rooted in glam rock and punk tradition. Think of the formidable four-piece as Kiss meets Poison meets Iggy Pop with plenty of the Motley Crue attitude to go around. Tales of sexual conquest abound in tunes that relay Zak's experience with the ladies - be they silicon enhanced beauties, barely legal teens or chicks he has picked up on the rebound in a local bar. But Zak Daniels' latest release also provides a platform to prove he is more than your typical sex-obsessed rocker. On songs like "Cautiously Optimistic" and "Wheels of Justice" Daniels reveals some politically astute observations on the way the world really works - and that makes sense - most politicians are snakes after all. The opener "Pay" sets the tone with suggestive lyrics and smokin' riffs in a track that deals with the hidden costs of playing on the dark side. "Hearts Break Easy" provides more of the testosterone fueled aggressive rock that's not for the faint of heart. "Shy Girl" is the closest thing to a ballad on this 11-track collection that lures you in with an inviting guitar lick before exploding into the fast and furious bawdy ode that it is. Throughout the CD the band is playing in high gear running on pure octane rock that motors with many melodic guitar leads, tasty B3 fills and the occasional harmonica highlighting the top-notch musicianship that Zak is able to charm out of the O.E.S. Daniels seems to delight in the perverse musical paradise he has created along with his talented back-up band - The One-Eyed Snakes - and their sophomore offering is tempting and tasty.

ZIGGY MARLEY LOVE IS MY RELIGION: Love Is My Religion expands upon the personal, social and political themes explored in his debut CD, Dragonfly, peppering a reggae core with African percussion and other flavors. Its tracks include the subversively danceable "Into the Groove," the political "Be Free" (which attacks the manipulating power of fear) and "Love Is My Religion" (a message Ziggy says that "people need to hear," a unifying devotion to love that "needs to be preached in churches and mosque and synagogues"). The album closes with a stripped-down acoustic guitar version of "Love Is My Religion" and a bass-heavy, trip-hop mix of "Be Free." Ziggy Marley's early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father. He later joined his siblings to front The Melody Makers, whose eight best-selling albums generated such chart-topping hits as "Tomorrow People" and "Tumbling Down." Ziggy's solo debut, Dragonfly, was released in 2003 and featured such artists as Flea and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mike Einziger and DJ Kilmore (Incubus).
